Our Library Bag: Catch that Goat!

Catch that Goat! by Polly Alakija is a picture book about a little Nigerian girl named Ayoka who is supposed to keep an eye on her family's goat. But the mischievous goat runs through the marketplace, stealing items along the way.
It's a good "read together" because there is lots of repetition which a child can read (Have you seen my goat? No, Ayoka. But one of my _____ is missing. I can see only [a number word].), and Nigerian names which a parent can [try to] read.

The illustrations are gorgeous. So detailed and alive.

We enjoyed reading this book even more the second time because we knew how silly the goat would look at the end. :)
